Description
This style of refectory table, originally made from oak, ranged from the Elizabethan Tudor period 16th century to the Jacobean period 17th century. This table is the equivalent of six feet long with four heavily carved legs and stretchers between them. The design on the bulbous legs was known as cup and cover above the bulbous leaf sections.
Around the top edge of the table are semi-circular shaped arches containing a floral leaf design. John made this table in 1997 when he was working on the Hever Castle collection of houses and room settings.
This one twelfth scale miniature table is shown in the long gallery of the miniature Elizabethan House on display at Hever Castle in Kent.
For our 24th scale collectors, John has also made this table in the half scale size.
