Description

Pre Louis XVI style, known as Transitional 1760-1775 chaise longue or duchesse.  The original design was attributed to Jacques-Jean-Baptiste Tilliard, and the piece was housed in the Chateau de Versailles.
The Louis XV outline is broken by numerous projections bearing  garlands of flowers, ribbons and other classical motifs.
This chaise is hand-painted in gilt, and upholstered in blue damask silk.
