Louis XV style settee painted manilla/ gilt and upholstered in red Chantilly fabric
The French Louis XV style of settee has scroll shaped legs and feet. There are shell motifs on the back legs, and a floral design with leaves on the front rail, and the top of the back. There is also an indented lower rail on the back.
There is also a side chair made in the same design to make up a beautiful set of furniture. These are used in elegant salons, drawing rooms, and spacious galleries.
You will see these in the Model of Spencer House, now exhibited in the Kaye Savage Browning Museum of Miniatures in Kentucky.
